New Books 2013

National Library Week - April 11 - 17, 2010

In today’s economy, what’s the one place you can go to get help with a resume, learn new job skills, connect to the Internet or just curl up with your favorite book – all for free? You can do all of that and more @ your library. Celebrate National Library Week, April 11-17. The theme is: Communities thrive @ your library.

A message brought to you by the American Library Association’s Campaign for America's Libraries and Clear Creek High School Library.

Book Spine Poetry

Come by your library and check out the "Book Spine Poetry" display. Your librarians and some of your peers put together poems using titles from various books!

April Is Here!

April…the word just oozes spring time, doesn’t it? It is yellow tulips and pink cherry blossoms. It is spring green grass and fresh dogwood white. Soft spring rain waking up the sleeping bulbs – they yawn and reach for the sun and invite us over for a swim in the deep end of color and fragrance…ahhh. Enough of that already! April is also a month for Poetry, Animal Cruelty Prevention, Lawn and Garden, and to celebrate National Library Week! Come by your library and enjoy the current displays of the month which include Book Spine Poetry, Gardening, Masks and Self Portraits created by Mrs. Foltz-Fox's and Mrs. Henning's Art Classes. Welcome to the month of April...it's not just for fools anymore...Get outside and enjoy the first taste of Spring!

700,000 iPads Sold

Brainstorm Tech writes:

In a report to clients issued Saturday night (4/3/10), Munster’s estimated that by midnight Sunday, Apple will have sold 600,000 to 700,000 iPads, including pre-orders — more than double his relatively conservative pre-launch estimate of 200,000 to 300,000. (Other analysts had published estimates of 300,000 to 400,000.)

Author Tim O'Brien

On March 24, 2010, many of Mrs. Pfeifer's and Ms. Schwab's AP English students joined author Tim O'Brien in a live one-hour webcast. Mr. O'Brien was interviewed by Nathaniel Flick and a student audience. He read from his book, The Things They Carried, and discussed the atrocities of war. Thanks to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Flick for sponsoring this event.

Mrs. Pfeifer's Senior Anthologies

Mrs. Pfeifer's Senior English classes compiled anthologies based on who they are at this point in time. Their work, including visuals, was to be put in an original and creative manner. Enjoy some of their creative ideas!
