I've mentioned it once before, but one more time, get free ebooks over the summer!
Teens can get a jump on their required reading, too, with the 2012 SYNC Summer audio program. Audiobook publishers and AudioFile Magazine have put a great twist on titles being offered this summer, matching a bestseller with a classic. The opening pair, available June 14 at SYNC, will be The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Two new titles will be made available each week through August 22.

CCHS Library Undergoes Construction
For the first time since moving into the current library building in 1994, the books have been packed up (or covered in plastic) while we await construction to begin in early June. The six air conditioners on the roof will be replaced and new steel beams will be added as reinforcement. In anticipation of the dust and welding sparks, the librarians packed books, covered shelves with plastic, had students help move furniture, and moved over 6000 books into a storage room. All computers have been disconnected and stored away. In fact, it's looking like a ghost town in here.
It's been humorous to see patrons' reactions to the packing. Some have asked, "Do you do this every summer?"
"Uh... no."
Others have asked, "Why would you do this?" or "Have e-books replaced the books?"
"Not yet."
One thing is for sure, the librarian and her hard-working assistant will be taking a long break to rest up for the unpacking in August. That should be fun.
Happy summer! Congrats to our seniors!

Library Books
All library books are due this Friday, May 18th. After that date, your books are overdue and will be charged a fine of $.10 a book per day. Don't forget to turn your books in on time and avoid those fines.
Senior Clearance day is Wednesday, May 30th. Seniors must have all fines cleared in order to graduate on Thursday. Avoid the long lines and take care of business before that date.
